FORTIFIED CHURCH FROM AÈšEL

An old Saxon keeps the keys of Ațel church; his name is Hansi. He is still boasting that he is responsible for ringing out the bells to all the important events of the Community. He has been doing that for more than 50 years, without interruption. He says that he finds it more difficult when someone dies in the village. He has to pull the bells for one hour, continuously. The fortified church from Ațel was raised in 1380. The wall of defense was built almost a century later, in 1460.
