Love at first sight! This can be described the relationship between Prince of Wales and Transylvania. Prince Charles came first in Romania in the 90s. He got invloved with Mihai Eminescu Trust which started to buy and restore old saxon houses from the Transylvanian Villages. Charles comes almost every year in Romania and allways spends time in his havourite area. In Viscri and Miklosvar Villages he owns traditional houses, which when he is not there, are open for public to have there a fantastic experience ! In Malancrav and Zalan Valley Villages, the Foundation and his good friend, Count Kalnoky restored old houses which offer great accommodation.
This exclusive tour gives you the chance to see and live in some of Prince Charles’ favourite houses, to sleep in the bed of His Royal Highness and to eat great meals prepared by the local ladies.
Day 1 Bucharest – Brasov
We'll meet you at the Airport in Bucharest and start driving to Transylvania. After 1.5 hours, we stop in Sinaia and visit Peles Palace, former summer residance of our Royal Family, one of the most beautiful castles in Europe. Drive another one our and reach Brasov Medieval City, our place for the night. We visit The Old City of Brasov. OVERNIGHT IN BRASOV
Day 2 Brasov – Viscri Village
This day is the first day when we see why Prince of Wales loves so much Transylvania. We'll drive to charming Viscri Saxon Village, the place where Prince Charles bought his first house in Transylvania. The house is fully restored and keeps the genuine charm of the old days. In Viscri, we gonna visit the 700 years old Fortified Church and meet the locals. In the evening, we'll taste the local cuisine – a lovely lady will cook for us a traditional meal. OVERNIGHT IN VISCRI VILLAGE
Day 3 Viscri Village – Malancrav Village
Today, we go deeper into Transylvania. After 1 hour we'll arrive in Sighisoara, a superb citadel with people still living inside. It was one of the seven cities which formed Siebenburgen, the old german name of Transylvania (7 cities). It is the birthplace of Vlad the Impaller, famous worldwide by his nickname, Dracula. After visiting Sighisoara, we'll drive 45 minutes and visit Alma Vii saxon Village, a remote charming place. Our accommodation for the night will be in Malancrav Village, one of the most beautiful villages from Transylvania. We'll enjoy Apafi Manor. The mansion was restored by the Mihai Eminescu Trust - Prince Charles was the patron of this Foundation. Apafi Manor is right next to the impresive Fortified Church which still has 600 years old original frescoes. In the evening, we'll enjoy a traditional dinner ! OVERNIGHT IN MALANCRAV VILLAGE
Day 4 Malancrav Village – Sibiu
Today, we'll go for Sibiu Medieval City, probably, the most beautiful city of Romania. On the way, we'll visit Biertan Fortified Church, Unesco WH site. We'll arrive in Sibiu by noon, so we'll have plenty of time to discover and explore the Old City. OVERNIGHT IN SIBIU
Day 5 Sibiu – Zalan Valley
Time again to go on Prince of Wales foot steps. Zalan Valley Village is the place where Count Kalnoky, a very good friend of Prince Charles, bought and restored old houses. The result is simply fabulous: charming old traditional accommodations. While there, we'll visit the Castle from the village. OVERNIGHT IN ZLAN VALLEY VILLAGE
Day 6 Zalan Valley Village – Miklosvar
Save the best for last, people say. Well, it's true – today will go to Miklosvar Village, the place where Prince of Walles bought a house and asked his good friend – Count Kalnoky – to restore it. Great job he did ! We'll have the opportunity to stay in Prince Charles house in the village. Here, we can admire the area on a horse cart ride. Traditional dinner at the house. OVERNIGHT IN MIKLOSVAR VILLAGE
Day 7
Time to get back to Bucharest where we'll reach after 3 hours. We'll visit Palace of the Parliament, the impressive building constructed during Nicolae Ceausescu’s dictatorial regime.
