Biertan Saxon Village and The Fortified Church

Biertan Saxon Village is one of the oldest villages in Transylvania. The first historical mention of this village comes from more than 800 years ago. The Saxon Colonists were the ones who founded the settlement near Sighisoara Citadel.
Biertan Saxon Village and The Fortified Church

The Fortified Church of Biertan was built 520 years ago and is the largest in Transylvania. The defensive fortification is the most impressive in Transylvania, having 3 concentric defense walls. The church also has the largest altar in Transylvania, as well as an original wooden door, unique in the world.
Biertan Saxon Village is also located on the popular ViaTransilvanica trail, and from the nearby hills, the views of the village are magnificent.
