FORTIFIED CHURCH FROM SASCHIZ – UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE

FORTIFIED CHURCH FROM SASCHIZ – UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE

On the top of Saschiz hill, the high cliffs and the old towers of the Saxon citadel raised in the 14th century, spring out. In Saschiz village, documentary attested in 1308 and included in the UNESCO world heritage, you can find the fortified church Saint Steven, built in Gothic style in 1496. The Tower of the Church from Saschiz reminds you of the Clock Tower from Sighisoara citadel. The Church’s cemetery is particularly interesting because of its ancient gravestones, some of them dating five centuries ago.
