CITADEL AND THE CHURCH FROM HARMAN

Just as Prejmer, located nearby, Harman Citadel started to be built by the Teutonic knights in 1211. Hungary’s King then surrendered the citadel to the Cistercian order. In 1920, in one of the chapels of the citadel it was revealed the superb medieval painting from the 15th century, a synthesis between the Byzantine and Latin iconography that had been covered with lime during the Reform process.
