FORTIFIED CHURCH FROM AXENTE SEVER

FORTIFIED CHURCH FROM AXENTE SEVER

This place has been talked about for seven centuries. The name of the place originates from an inhabitant participant to the 1848 Revolution, Ioan Axente, also called Sever. Axente Sever village boasts with a superb fortified church, kept in good conditions until today, after over 700 years. The church from Axente Sever is a hall-church, with a dome provided with ribs. The citadel has a strong defense tower, which offers a splendid view over the charming village, but also solid walls surrounding it. The surrounding wall is provided with defense holes, and inside there are the storage rooms where the inhabitants were keeping their goods at time of war. Nowadays, the yard of the fortified church from Axente Sever is a small paradise full of flowers and peace of mind. A beautiful museum with traditional objects was arranged inside the citadel.
