CITADEL AND CHURCH FROM CALNIC - UNESCO

Citadel from Calnic dates from the mid of the 1200s, being initially built as noble residence; the name of "Siegfried", the Donjon remained ever since. Transylvanian Saxons bought it in 1430 from the noble family, turning it into a farmer's castle. They strengthened its walls and built the supplies’ store rooms. The church from Calnic is an imposing one for a medieval village, with an almost 10 meters width.
