Wonderful tour of Transylvania

I travel quite a bit and do not usually get tour guides.

But because this one is for Eastern (as opposed to Western) Europe, a friend suggested to me that it's better to join an organized tour. That was a great piece of advice and the tour I picked with George (who owns Touring Romania) was absolutely wonderful. The tour covered a number of scenic towns and castles in Transylvania and you'd enjoy it immensely if you're into natural beauty and/or history. George was very friendly, very professional, and knowledgeable. He's great at striking the right balance between giving you interesting information and not overloading you with it. The van ride was great because he explained things but there was also plenty of quiet time to just soak in the scenery or just have a little nap. Also, the pace of the tour was just right. We covered numerous sights and there was plenty of time for us to explore each town on our own. I would highly recommend this tour.
One final tip - Before leaving Brazov, I'd highly recommend you take the cable car to the Tampa mountaintop. The views from the top are amazing. The service starts at 9:30 and if you make it to the ticketing office about 20-30 minutes in advance and catch the first car up, you should have enough time to go where the big Brazov sign is, soak in the view, take some pictures, take the cable car down, and be back at the hotel for 10:30 departure.
