”Excellent guide in an amazing country!”

Everything was done at my pace.

George is more than a tour guide, he is like traveling with a friend - a very knowledgeable friend who loves to share his knowledge and stories of this incredible country. I am not one to usually hire a guide, except for those times when you just really need a car to see what you want to see. So with that being said I made sure that I was hiring the right guide to show me around the saxon villages in Transylvania. From the first email I could tell that George wasn't like all the other guides...he listened to what I wanted and together we designed my day in the villages. He offered suggestions (like lunch at Mrs. Lucica's, more on that in a minute) but also took into consideration the places I told him I wanted (and didn't want) to visit. He is very intuitive to what people want and I think he can easily adapt to each situation. I really enjoy taking photos, so he brought along his camera and was taking photos too! It was nice not to feel like I had someone standing behind me waiting for me to get the pictures I wanted and feel rushed. Everything was done at my pace.

He took me to the villages I wanted to see, and also threw in some of his favorites like Malancrav - which ended up being one of the highlights of the day...and I would have never known about it (or been able to get to it) without him. But the real highlight was visiting Mrs. Lucica's house! What a wonderful lady and some of the best food I had on my entire trip...and I'm a vegetarian! So that means, she altered the traditional Romanian meals, which are all based on meat, and made a wonderful, and extremely filling lunch that was all vegetarian. But it wasn't just the food that made this visit so memorable, it was Mrs Lucica - and all her cats! I will always remember her warm smile and am so grateful George brought me to meet this wonderful lady in her home and get a real glimpse of traditional Romanian life...and George was there for the entire lunch to help translate, and just enjoy her wonderful company. I even got a tour around their farm after lunch.

If I returned to Romania, and I hope to - I think it really is one of Europe's last hidden gems - I will definitely use George again to get around. Thanks George!
