Come to Romania!

We went to many places we wouldn't have found on our own; villages, churches, artisans, Mountain views and more.

"The day after the tour ended we were missing George. He is so knowledgeable, passionate, positive, and enthusiastic. He was able to explain all that we saw. The several rulers of the country, ethnic mix, religions and the effect of Communism were brought to light.
We went to many places we wouldn’t have found on our own; villages, churches, artisans, Mountain views and more.
We were lucky to spend Orthodox Easter in a village in Maramures. The traditional worship, food, and the self-sufficient way of life were an amazing example of people who are straddling the past and the modern world and making it work. Tourism helps many of them do this.

This trip was a stretch for us. Romania was well off our beaten France, Italy, UK, track. Heard of this from a previous guide. It was a chance taken we’ll not regret. While we were reading how crowded Italy was getting we had no such issues. Saw one tour bus pull up to our hotel in Bucovina and wanted to run them out of town! Can’t guarantee it will stay that way but…

Romania has accepted many refugees from the war. We so no overcrowded facilities as many of the new arrivals were taken in privately or helped to move on to other countries. Support for Ukraine is obvious; banners, collection boxes, badges etc. Our safety was not an issue. Come to Romania."
