After conquering Dacia, the Romans built a new capital in 110 a.Chr. - Ulpia Traiana Sarmisegetuza. Here were colonized the Roman veterans, from the fights with the Dacians. In 3rd century, Ulpia Traiana had 20,000 inhabitants. Outside the defense walls the ruins of the Roman amphitheatre can be found, designed to receive 5,000 spectators and the ruins of the temples dedicated to the different Roman goods.
