Cozia Monastery

This is the foundation from 1387 of an important Wallachia Prince – Mircea cel Bătrân (Mircea of Wallachia), buried in here. Fragments from the original painting, made in 1390, are still kept on the western wall of the nave, representing the Ruler Mircea and his son Mikhail in knights’ costumes. The church’s windows framings are extremely beautiful, sculptured in stone.
