SUCEAVA`S RESIDENCE CITADEL
Suceava’s Residence Citadel was built in 1388. It was never conquered by fighting, facing some dreadful sieges and battles with Sobieski’s Polish and with the Turkish led by Mahomet II, Constantinople’s conqueror. The Residence Citadel fell however in the hands of the Turks, in 1538, because of the courtier nobles’ treason that cheated vaivode Petru Rareș (under whose rule the outside mural churches were painted).
