The Church of "The Holly Cross", built by Stephen the Great in 1487, was the church of a nuns’ monastery who were attending the wounded soldiers during the ruler’s wars. The soldiers are under the spiritual protection of the military saints and it is no wonder that the narthex from PătrăuÈ›i is painted with an impressive unique scene within the Byzantine area. "The Cavalcade of the Holy Cross" depicts Archangel Michael and Constantin the Great Emperor in front of Saints George, Demeter and other military saints.
