HUMOR MONASTERY - CHRISTIANS TAKE REVENGE FOR CONSTANTINOPOL - UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE
Humor Monastery was raised in 1530, near the ancient ruins of an old monastery destroyed by the Tatars. Humor Monastery church preserved the fresco from the southern wall. The image of the first siege of Constantinople from 626 and Christians victory draws attention. But in Humor (as well as in Moldovița), instead of the Persians defended by the Byzantines in 626, Turkish invaders are painted. They had conquered Constantinople in 1453, with eight decades before the construction of the Humor church. That was a political message for encouraging the Christians of those times, when Petru Rareș was fighting the Turkish.
