WOODEN CHURCHES FROM DIN IEUD - UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE
Scientific researches show that the church from Ieud Hill, registered in the UNESCO World Heritage, dates from the first half of the 17th century, being thus among the oldest wooden churches in MaramureÈ™. The walls of the narthex illustrate the Doomsday, with a Hell fire that covers the sinners. The other wooden church from the valley ("Ieud Ses"), is a Greek-Catholic church and it impresses by its height and good-proportions, renowned as "The Wooden Cathedral". It was built in 1718, after the last Tatar invasion.
