WOODEN CHURCH FROM BARSANA – UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE
The church from Jbâr Hill is in fact the church of the old Bârsana Monastery, destroyed by the Austrians in 1791. The wooden church was built in 1720 and moved on the hill on 1806, in the place where the plague-stricken had been buried, in order to bring them solace because they had not had a Christian burial.
